If you are looking for adventure, the Pyrenees offer all sorts of activities that will leave you speechless. From snowshoe outings on one of the Pyrenean peaks to surfing under some of the most famous cliffs on the Atlantic Ocean in Europe, or amazing days of skiing down miles of ski slopes ... Then indulge in the many pleasures traditionally offered by the towns and mountain villages full of charm. However, if you would prefer to relax, you can choose to admire the impressive and colourful autumn Pyrenean landscape or learn about the culture of a land full of history. Why not choose to relax in a spa resort overlooking the sea or among the peaks? Or why not taste some fine local wines in one of the many wineries and then relax on a secluded sun drenched Mediterranean beach?

Midi-Pyrénées

The French Pyrenees in the Midi-Pyrenees prides itself on magically combining sport, relaxation and well-being in an immensely beautiful setting, through its sporting facilities and its 14 spas and thermal leisure centre which have an excellent reputation. One of the best representatives of this region is the quiet town of Luchon, a haven of peace without a single traffic light, located between the 13 most famous peaks of the chain and offering accommodation at the foot of the slopes and a prestigious thermal spa resort.

In Navarre, the Iraty Forest and the Urbasa National Park are ideal places to experience the change of season and discover the scent of damp wood while walking on a carpet of dead leaves among its 100 year old beech trees. Autumn has also arrived in the Central Zone's wine lands revealing all its glory, at this time of year, during the grape harvest. It is a perfect time to enjoy dozens of activities available at this time of year, such as horse riding among the vineyards or guided tours of the cellars.

The whole west side of this region is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and is wrapped in its mild climate. It is home to important heritage treasures such as the Lascaux cave or the Vézère Valley and is bordered by the Pyrenees in the south. This privileged location makes the Aquitaine region a constantly changing region in its colours and activities. In autumn, green, yellow and ochre colours settle to transform the site into a great place for active hiking or family hikes, while from November to April, the white snow covering the peaks provides an endless range of winter sports. Not to mention the blue of the ocean and its many sporting or leisure activities.

The Catalan Pyrenees are a land full of rich and contrasting locations with a climate that varies from valley to valley, from the crystalline waters of the Mediterranean to the Atlantic winds. In addition, they contain natural areas, a Romanesque architecture declared World Heritage, such as the impressive Val del Boí, valleys filled with history and mountains that can accommodate up to ten alpine ski resorts and six Nordic resorts bathed in a mild climate ideal for skiing under a blazing sun.

The Aragonese Pyrenees are part of the highest area of the Pyrenees chain with the impressive heights of Pic Aneto (3404 m.), Posets (3375 m.) and Mont Perdu (3335 m.). Glacial lakes or mountain lakes, lush forests and deep valleys form an extensive and varied landscape, full of life and charm for the visitor who can take advantage of a large hotel infrastructure, camp sites and rural tourism to relax after a day of sport on some of the famous ski slopes such as Astún, Formigal, Panticosa, Cerler ou Candanchú.

This part of France offers an attractive combination of perfectly kept Mediterranean beaches, historic towns, and mountain peaks that are home to 280 kms of ski slopes and spas. Without a doubt, what is the most attractive about Languedoc-Roussillon are the minimum 300 days of sunshine a year which represents the highest sun exposure in France. It is a natural luxury that gives the region an ideal climate for activities such as canoeing and kayaking, climbing and horse riding.

The stage measures 468km² and the characters, par excellence, are nature and outdoor sports activities. Andorra has the largest ski area in southern Europe. The Grandvalira and Vallnord ski resorts represent a 3075 hectare ski area, 285 kilometres of ski slopes, 111 lifts and 1482 artificial snow machines. You should not forget that this small country is also full of Romanesque art, museums and monuments, as well as cultural routes, festivals and traditions that constitute a rich historical heritage in perfect harmony with comfort.

The Basque Country's nature is full of nuances and contrasts that are a subtle alchemy of a patchwork land. Its geographic profile consists of coastal mountains such as Mount Jaizkibel or the Pic des Trois Couronnes and peaks and sierras inland, most are protected as National Parks. But the Basque Country is also an urban area that adds to its wonderful cuisine, the most avant-garde art, like that of the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, and traditional festivals such as the January Tamborrada in San Sebastian, precious examples of countless cultural proposals.
