This year the Capital of Catalonian Culture will move to the centre of the Pyrenees, at Escaldes-Engordany (Andorra), with the motto "source of diversity". The Capital of Catalonian Culture is an initiative which came about in 1998 with the aim of encouraging the dissemination and social prestige of the Catalonian language and culture. It also contributes to the cultural cohesion of the Catalan speaking territories and a better understanding of the designated Capital of Catalonian Culture site.
For 2011 Escaldes-Engordany will be the cultural reference point for all that is Catalonian. A full offer of cultural, social and sporting activities, created specially for this project, will be put forward.
In addition to the activities which the community organises each year, like the International Festival of Musical Colours, temporary exhibitions in Escaldes-Engordany’s contemporary art centre or literary Wednesdays, among others, cultural, sporting and environmental activities for all types of public will be organised. A monthly calendar of all the activities available will be published on the internet so that it may be freely consulted: http://e-e2011.ad/
