The “Pyrineo (25.06.2011-09.07.2011), the Big Hike in the Pyrenees” project is aimed at getting people to discover or re-discover the Pyrenees region.

This “Big Hike in the Pyrenees“ is one part of the “2011 Year of the Pyrenees”, aimed at promoting and increasing theprestige of the Pyrenees mountain range. It was launched by the Working Community of the Pyrenees (WCP) (more information available at www.ctp.org). Through the beauty of its open spaces, these partnerships and our heritage, we want to share our love for these unique valleys and mountains.

You can take part in this event in several ways:

As part of a package organised by the Balaguère travel agency:

As part of a club or association:

Clubs and associations can join in for one day, or several, whether consecutive or not.

Organisation and logistics are the responsibility of the club or association, and are integrated into the framework of the hike’s overall organisation.

As an individual:

Individual walkers may join in for one or more stages. Participation in the different stages of the “Big Hike in the Pyrenees” is free. Participants are responsible for organising their own logistics (transfers, accommodation, refreshments). This route logbook is designed to provide useful information to facilitate this process. To ensure the safety of individual walkers, qualified mountain guides will walk behind the group. Individual walkers are welcome to take part in any group activities on the route.
